Recent International Events:
International Summer/Winter Terms (ISWT):
The International Summer and Winter Term (ISWT) is held twice a year, typically during May-July and in December. Participants from industry, research organisations, faculty and students from all over the world register for the courses being offered during the summer and winter terms. These subjects are designed around current and multidisciplinary themes of Science, Engineering, Management and Law. The duration for each subject is approximately 2 weeks or 10 working days with a judicious blend of lectures and tutorials per day.
Both national and international participants get an opportunity to seek knowledge and experience from reputed international faculty members through intensive study of subjects and personal interactions. Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur issues a course completion certificate at the end of the term. Students registered for these courses have the option to obtain additional academic credits based on the evaluation and grading process.

Admission Of Foreign Students
Based on the recent MHRD decision of admitting foreign students primarily in Post Graduate/Research and also in Undergraduate courses, IITKGP will soon offer seats to foreign students on supernumerary basis. The students shall be selected through a common entrance exam which would be administered by the IITs with the help of Indian Missions in the respective countries. This outreach program is expected to begin in August 2016. Based on this policy decision, measures will be taken to provide assistantship to foreign Ph.D students through their Plan grants similar to Indian students.Operationalization of this policy will begin from the JEE/GATE exams to be conducted in 2017.
